Finally A Decision!

I was sat at home thinking about things and having a look at the other options local to me.  It occurred that I didn't have a logged record of my trial flight in the C42 and that is an hour that can go towards my total time.  It is actually counted as the first exercise in the NPPL training.

I decided that I would take a trip over to G S Aviation at Clench Common to buy a log book and get the flight logged.  It was whilst I was there that I again talked though my options with Dave Slater and, to cut a long story short, I have decided to start my training with them.  He has confirmed that if I took a lesson every 2 to 3 weeks, that would be OK, I don't have to fly every week to make progress.  1 a month would be the maximum between flights if at all possible.  The weather may have a baring on this later in the year, but for now, I will try and stick with this.

Learning on a 'pay as you go' basis also makes it more manageable, financially.  The cost is a recurring theme, but I think I have sorted that without resorting to borrowing money from the bank.  I am going to lend myself some money out of my ISA as it is not doing anything for me in there!  I will then pay it back in over the next 15 months.

In the excitement, I have ordered myself a second hand refurbished iPad Mini 4 (Cellular version) to run Sky Demon on.  This cost £249.99.   The SkyDemon subscription can be paid at £12 per month and this may be a better way to manage the costs.  I don't really need that just yet so I may hold off starting that.  Having said that, it may not be needed for navigation straight away, but it can be used to record the flights.

I also need to look at kneeboards for the iPad and also note taking and other useful things to have available in the flight.  These range from about £30 upwards.  I am not sure if I need a separate one for the iPad or if I can use an all in one version.

I have booked my first real lesson for 15:30 on Saturday 20th July.
